Services

At K&N Finishers we offer a wide rage of services listed below. If what you require is not listed please give us a call on 02392 370591

Grit blasting, Pressure blasting and Bead blasting

Shooting abrasive particles at a surface is the fastest and most thorough means of achieving many objectives -- cleaning, descaling, deburring and removing oxides and other surface contaminants, and it can do it for awkward interiors as well as open surfaces. What is used as an abrasive, the force with which it is blasted and the medium used to create the pressure are all variables that we can confidently manipulate in order to achieve the required result. The task may vary, from establishing a surface profile to promote adhesion to a specific type of paint or coating to be applied afterwards, to just maintaining the efficiency and life expectancy of the surface.

We are proud to offer both in house and in-situ blasting services.

UHP water blasting

water blasting

UHP water Jetting/Blasting is the modern, environmentally friendly way of preparing a surface for coatings application. UHP water blasting provides the cost effective solution for surface preparation in every industry sector.

Operating at 40,000psi (2,800 bar), our state-of-the-art NLB UHP Blasting units enable us to remove any coating, taking the substrate back to its original profile, and unlike other “traditional” surface preparation methods, ensuring the surface is completely contaminant free

Thermal spraying

Coating by Thermal Spraying involves heating material in wire form to a molten or semi molten state and propelling it using a stream of gas or compressed air to deposit a layer on the surface of the parent component.

This process can be repeated many times allowing the technician to build up a series of layers. It is used as an alternative to galvanizing as it provides equivalent protection to steel along with a more desirable finish.

Powder coating

Powder coating is an advanced method of applying a decorative and protective finish to a wide range of materials and products that are used by both industries and consumers. The powder is applied with a spray gun and is electrostatically charged. The powder is then attracted to the grounded substrate and baked on.

Powder coated surfaces are more resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, and wearing than other finishes. Colour selection is virtually unlimited and colors stay bright and vibrant longer. K&N boasts numerous box ovens capable of holding lengths of up to 9m. The Portchester branch also has a line which is ideal for large batches.

Stove Enamelling

This is a traditional form of wet paint coating applied cold but baked at 140 degrees Celsius to cure the coating giving a hard, durable, cosmetic finish.  Items suited to this application include motorbike frames, shop signs and high quality furniture.

Wet Spraying

We have a specialist team who work closely with our clients’ specifications and turnaround times to a very high standard on all forms of wet paint systems.

Epoxy coatings and floors

We apply epoxy coatings to steel, grp, aluminium as standard. Our site team applies epoxy coatings to floors as well as many other substrates and structures.

We can specify coating longevity to BS5493

Intumescent coatings

intumescent coatings

Intumescent coatings provide a high standard of finish, quality and reliability, they can be applied on or off-site and can be used on buildings requiring 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes fire resistance.

Thin film intumescent coatings are manufactured from organic materials and are inert at low temperatures. They swell (or intumesce) to provide a charred layer of low conductivity foam when exposed to high emperatures This char layer reduces the rate of temperature rise in the steel and prolongs the steels load bearing capacity.

Full refurbishments

We have an experienced site team who are capable of transforming large warehouses and factory units into a pleasant place to work.

Corporate makeovers are a speciality

Transport

We can provide transport as we have a number of vehicles including a 7.5 tonne lorry, 3.5 tonne curtain-sided lorry and 3.5 tonne flat bed lorry which are used for collection and deliveries
